(NWZ) located in Baoji city, Shaanxi province, China, is a modernized enterprise co-invested by Baoji Non-ferrous Metals Works (BNMW) and Northwest Institute for Non-ferrous Metals Research (NIN). The company set up in May 1998 and put into production in March 2000 with total investment of 1.5 hundred million RMB. Through a system that the general manager takes full responsibility for the Board of directors, NWZ was affirmed as Hi-tech enterprise and got the license for export and import business in June of 2000. Up to now ， NWZ has established business relationship with more than 10 enterprises from USA, Canada, Japan and India. NWZ was honored as a model enterprise for CIMS application under 863 high-tech Program of the state by the Ministry of Science and Technology in March, 2001 after implementation of CIMS engineering. It is a specialized enterprise for developing, manufacturing and marketing mill products of zirconium and hafnium used in nuclear industry. The company possesses modernized production line and has imported production technology for zirconium materials used for nuclear power industry, which make its products with advanced level in the world. It also has mature technologies, advanced equipments and stronger capabilities for R/D and production.   Zirconium, hafnium and their alloys, owing to their excellent nuclear characteristics and mechanical properties, have become the key structure materials of the core of reactors used on nuclear powered naval vessels and nuclear power plants. Both two co-investors are the enterprises which began to research, develop and manufacture zirconium and hafnium materials in 1960’s .As the first batch among Chinese enterprise to promote their ripe products in the market, in the process of research, development and production of zirconium and hafnium materials for more than 30 years, they have accumulated a wealth of experiences, achieved large numbers of scientific and technical results, patent technologies and know how with their own intellectual property rights, trained numerous qualified scientists and technicians, and made major contributions to the development of Chinese nuclear industry.
